Outdoor Photography Canada is building something new and local photographers are invited to take part.
We’re starting a display program that brings your work into real-world spaces across Vancouver Island. That means cafés, hotels, boutiques, visitor centers, and other local businesses places where your photography can be seen by new audiences in your own community.
Each display includes a printed or screen-based version of your photo along with a small sign featuring a QR code. That QR code links to a dedicated page about your work, your story, or your full portfolio powered by our platform partner, FolioProjects.
You’ve probably seen similar programs in galleries or public art spaces. But this one is built to be easy, scalable, and inclusive.
What the QR Code Links To

You decide what your display points to on FolioProjects. It can be:
- A project page about a specific photo (including story, location, or behind-the-scenes details)
- A portfolio of your photography
- Your public profile on FolioProjects, including your social links, store, website, or contact info
You can see an example using our own OPC FolioProjects profile. This turns your print into a digital link tree that anyone can scan with their phone.
Why We’re Doing This
We want to help more photographers get discovered outside the algorithm. If you’ve ever wanted to show your work in a more public or permanent way, this is one option that doesn’t require gallery contacts or social media reach. It’s free to get started, and you retain full control over your work.
We’re starting on Vancouver Island, but our long-term goal is to expand this network across Canada. If you join now, you’re getting in at the early stage of something new.
Selling Prints and Getting Help
If you want to sell prints alongside your display, we offer a few options:
- We can help you set up your own store or ecommerce website
- If you prefer, Beyond Programs LTD (our parent company) can manage sales for you for a small fee to handle payment, shipping, and fulfilment so you don’t have to
This is entirely optional. You can just display your work and use the QR code for visibility.
Pop-Up Galleries Are Coming
In addition to business and public displays, we’re working on temporary pop-up exhibits in local galleries, municipal buildings, and tourism spaces. Photographers who participate in the display program will be the first considered for these showcases.
How to Get Involved
Joining this initiative is easy.
- Register on FolioProjects (required)
Create your free account to set up a project page or portfolio. This is where your photographs live—each display links to this page, enabling stories, print sales, social profiles, and real-time engagement data. These pages are private, control your brand, and form the backbone of the program. - Optional: Join the OPC Photographer Directory
Want extra exposure and SEO value? Add your free listing to the OutdoorPhotographyCanada.com directory. No need for an address—you’re there because you’re featured in local displays. This gives you:- A linkable profile indexed by Google
- Venue and display badges (“Featured in [Venue Name]”)
- A complementary layer of public visibility
Once you’re registered, we’ll match your work with real display venues across Vancouver Island cafés, hotels, galleries, tourism centres, and more. You’ll receive images of your work on-site, plus program updates and opportunities for promotional features.
